about

This song was written shortly after the lead singer's fifth birthday. Betrayed by the lyrical sabotage of her long-time collaborator/parent Gavin Castleton, she hired long-time vocalist/parent Alexis Henry to feature on this song instead. Little did she realize that lyrical sabotage runs in the family.

lyrics

I went in the forest
and I saw the most beautiful unicorn
and it was red
it head was red
with all kinds of rainbow colors on the mane and horn
it didn't have any black or shutters.

Won't you make up my feelings?
I love jewelry and earrings
I see my unicorn
don't you wanna know about it's horn?
You don't need a fear
you don't show a tear
Momma brought peas and corn

You give me magic, magic, magic
Feeling this way
You give me magic, magic, magic
Every day
You give me magic, magic, magic
Up in my mind
You give me magic, magic, magic
All of the time

My unicorn has more magic than any unicorn in the forest...
and the magic comes out of his horn

You're screaming up a storm at checkout in my favorite store
the Target produce aisle is not a place to start a war about
That unicorn, that unicorn!

Now look around you baby everyone is staring at you—you're a mess
Just because I won't buy these stupid carrots for
That unicorn, that unicorn?

I give you magic, magic, magic
Feeling this way
I give you magic, magic, magic
Every day
I give you magic, magic, magic
Up in my mind
I give you magic, magic, magic
All of the time

Magic, magic, magic
uhhhhh, done...?

Magic, magic, maggot, ma—
nuuu-ninnnnd....
thank you!

about

Red Poison Portland, Oregon

Red Poison is the brainchild of actual-child Amelia Bloom, a PDX-based 1st grader with a penchant for jewelry and unicorns. With the help of Gavin Castleton and Alexis Henry she (sort of) wrote and recorded these songs between the ages of 4 and 6. She has since fired the band to pursue a solo career. ... more
